I know I need something to keep me motivated to press the shutter, to try and keep the creative juices flowing as they say, so I’ve decided to create my own projects. Home Isolation Projects or HIPS for short. Some of these involve images I’ve been wanting to share for a while, but most are time relevant. I’m keen for you to join me, to share some pics, some ideas or, you can just enjoy some (hopefully) interesting images. But if you are looking for extra things to do during your time at home and also want some way of recording this time in history (which I feel is an important thing to do) then please join in. HOME ISOLATION PROJECT 1 – HOME

It’s obvious. It’s where we all are right now. There are loads of wonderful things in our homes. I want you to think about photographing some of them in an interesting way, look at things a little bit differently, that is after all what we have to do with life at the moment. Stop, slow down, look at the everyday things and think “how could I photograph that?” Have a little fun with it. Look out for my posts and then share your pic in the comments.

HOME ISOLATION PROJECT 2 – FAMILY

Closely tied with Project 1 as home for me also means family. This one is important. We are living through a huge piece of history, this becomes part of our story, make sure you record who you were with (including yourself) during this time.  A little look at someone each day in your isolation crew, including pets of course. Look out for my posts and then share a pic of one of your crew in the comments.

HOME ISOLATION PROJECT 3 – RANDOM DAILY THEME

I’ve got the kids into this one – taking the photos and coming up with the daily themes. We will post the theme for the day in the morning and post our pics for the theme by the end of the day. I’m keen to hear from you for some theme ideas! Then of course you can add your photos in the comments on my daily photo. It’s really fun seeing other people’s take on a theme (especially with somewhat limited resources at the moment!). The idea is that you have to take the photo on the day of the theme - no cheating and grabbing one you have taken previously. And of course you have to take all these images within the reaches and safety of your bubble.

I will be sharing some of my fav pics of Southern NZ and I welcome you to share some with us as well. Once the Covid-19 dust has settled we need to plan on domestic travel to help support our local towns and businesses. I want to spark some interest in some areas to put on your list or simply let you enjoy some of beautiful southern NZ from home.
